Women leave town and children in hands of men
Story found on YahooNews.com.
What would happen if all the women were to disappear from a town, leaving the men to not only work, but also take care of the family and the home?
“It will be a disaster, a complete disaster,” said Kelly Weatherly, who was sent off for a week at a resort, along with almost all the women in her community of 760, leaving the town and its children in the hands of the men. Continue reading »

From NBC/NJ’s Aswini Anburajan
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As the two leading Democratic candidates for president compete on who can best put the nation on a more prosperous economic track, Obama delineated the difference between the two candidates today as a choice between past and present.
“At this point the contest between myself and Sen. Clinton, I think, really does have to do with the past and the future and you know the American people are not looking simply for a repetition of what happened in the 90s,” he said. Continue reading »

There are many births in the documentary film “The Business of Being Born,” including a scene of former talk-show host Ricki Lake giving birth naked in her tub. But the image that viewers may find most shocking is that of a baby being cut out of a woman’s abdomen via Caesarean. This, according to Lake, the executive producer of the film, and Abby Epstein, the film’s director, is the right reaction: one of their messages is that C-sections should only be performed when needed to guarantee the well-being of the mother and infant, and should not be a first choice for healthy mothers. Story found on NewsandTribune.com.
I never thought I’d say this, but if I want to fit in, I may just have to move to Hollywood. My husband and I adopted a baby just before my 40th birthday. In the celeb world, I’d be chic. Here at home I’m just an old(er) mom.
I’m almost positive Brooke Shields and Marcia Cross have never been asked if their children are their grandchildren. It’s happened to me three times in 10 months. Continue reading »

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.
‘Why?’ my daughter asked.
‘Because it’s been on the ground, you don’t know where it’s been, it’s dirty, and probably has germs,’ I replied.
At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked,
‘Momma, how do you know all this stuff, you are so smart.’
I was thinking quickly. ‘All moms know this stuff. It’s on the Mom Test. You have to know it, or they don’t let you be a Mom.’
We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.
‘OH…I get it!’ she beamed, ‘So if you don’t pass the test you have to be the dad.’
‘Exactly,’ I replied back with a big smile on my face.
